How to sell in email
This final part will answer exactly what to say as you transition from infotaining content into a pitch. I’m giving you three transitions and examples below, and you’ll have plenty of upcoming examples to review.
1. “Anyway, the reason I’m writing…”
It’s simple. Just be honest. All the stuff they just read was just an excuse to pitch your product. Maybe not entirely, but you’re keeping the lights on by selling stuff, and that’s business. And you can even have some fun with it.
“The real reason I’m writing to you today isn’t to share my story of the exploding saxophone, it’s to let you know I have [PRODUCT] for sale…”
2. “And the good news is…”
If you’re writing an email about a problem that your product solves, you can easily transition into showing them your solution.
“Writer's block can get you down. But the good news is, I have a training program that will solve your writer’s block for good!”
“It’s spring. And the good news is that our spring sale is on right now…”
3. “To learn how…”
If you’re selling a masterclass, you can transition from the benefits of improving a specific skill to showing them how to buy your masterclass.
“To learn how to hybrid pick on guitar, follow this link…”
These three transitions will get you going. They’re not rocket science, and you can see how easy it is to transition from any subject into a pitch for your product. And if you ever have trouble, just tell them what you want them to do next. Your call to action (CTA) should always be simple and commanding.
