I’m a musician in a pandemic. I’m ready to show up for rehearsals in a 3-piece suit. But I will never look as cool as Dexter Gordon. 😎 He was one of my biggest influences as a young jazz student. He would’ve turned 98 today.
My first Chick Corea transcription. I was probably 19 at the time. I sampled the solo with my Ensoniq EPS sampler and played it down an octave to slow it down for the fast lines. Back then, we didn’t have access to all the tech we have now, but that sampler was transformative.
